birthdate of March 2, 1865 and birthplace as Berlin, Germany. It says he was a son of
Frederick and Bertha Mueller (Bertha, Frederick's second wife, was in fact his
stepmother), and it gives their birthdates and the fact that neither ever left Germany.
Charles came to the U.S., it says, at age 14 with an aunt, and they located in Outagamie
County, where he attended school for about a year, having previously been tutored in his
native country. He worked on the farms of Ellington township until his marriage, after
which for one year he operated on his father-in-law's farm. He then secured employment in
the grist mill in Appleton for three years, and spent a number of years in the lumber
yard, but eventually purchased a farm in Grand Chute township, where he was actively
engaged in agricultural pursuits until his death. He was a member of the Evangelical
Church and a Republican in politics. Then article gives his marriage date as 27 Nov 1880,
wife's birthdate and birthplace (15 Feb 1861, Ellington Twp., Outagamie Co.) and wife's
parents' birthdates and birthplaces as Germany. States that wife's parents were married in
Outagamie Co. Rest of article gives info. on Lipke family and on widowed Helen Lipke
Mueller. Lists their six children and their birthdates (all birthdates same as on
handwritten record).
