* BIRTH, DEATH: Death Certificate for J M Brown in possession of M. Kathleen
Felsted. Obituary from the Spokane Review states:
Joseph M. Brown, 77, well known in the Coeur d alnes in the late
80's died Friday in Portland where he had lived for the past two years. Funeral and burial
services were held in Portland Saturday. Mr. Brown was born in Indiana and came to Spokane
in 1886 and then went into the Coeur d' Alene country. With the late L. W. Hutton, he
built the first narrow gauge railroad from the old Cataldo mission to Kellogg, it was
stated by his son, Dan C. Brown of Spokane. Mr. Brown homesteaded at Dudley, Idaho, and
that place was known for a number for years as Brown's Siding. He returned to Spokane
about 1912 and lived here until about two years ago.
