VICTOR AHRENS, son of Mr. and Mrs. FRITZ AHRENS, returned to Victoria yesterday after an absence of four years in San Diego, Cal., where he served in the Coast Artillery. Last June he was married to Miss BESSIE RUPP, a charming young lady of San Diego, who returned with him. Ahrens' many friends will be glad to learn that he will again make his home in this city.

A beautiful and impressive Jewish ceremony was celebrated today at 2 o'clock at the Synagogue in this city. The high contracting parties were Mr. L.S. ALEXANDER and Miss LEONA OPPENHEIMER, both of this city, Rabbi OPPENHEIMER officiating. Mr. Alexander is a successful and popular young merchant of this city, and the bride is a young lady possessing rare personal charms.
The beautiful Jewish ceremony of time immemorial was observed. One cannot witness a Jewish marriage without feeling impressed with its sacredness and antiquity.
The receipt of about 100 telegrams of congratulations and eighty-five elegant bridal presents testify to the esteem in which they are held.

Married today at 11:30 at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. D.T. FORBES, by Rev. J.E. MARTIN, were W.B. BARBEE of Wharton and Miss JUNIA ROSEBOROUGH of Victoria, Miss BESSIE FORBES and GEORGE STONER being the only other persons present. The marriage is a surprise to everyone else in the city. Immediately after the ceremony the bridal couple were driven to the bride's home to apprise her parents of their marriage and to bid them farewell. They left on the 1:00 train for Wharton. The bride is one of Victoria's most charming young ladies and we regret to lose her so suddenly. The groom is a prominent young man of Wharton and a son of Judge BARBEE.

Last evening at 8 o'clock sharp two marriages were celebrated at the Lutheran parsonage. This is something unusual in the annals of Victoria. The first couple, GEORGE BAUER and Miss ADRIAN WILDEN, were married by Rev. K. WEISS. Immediately after congratulations were extended the newly married pair, IKE COHEN and Miss SUSIE SHIVER were married by Judge H.A. CARSNER. The attendants for both couples were ARTHUR HEINKE and Miss MAGGIE WILDEN. Quite a number of bridal presents testified to the esteem in which both couples were held.

Mr. BUHLER is a gentleman of splendid worth, a son of Banker and Mrs. THEO BUHLER, and is quite popular in Victoria, where he formerly resided. Mr. and Mrs. BUHLER left on the afternoon train to make their home in Houston, where the groom has a lucrative railroad position.

Father L. ETSCHENBERG officiated. The bride wore a traveling gown of blue silk voile over silk and looked very pretty. Following an elaborate wedding dinner, the newly married couple departed for San Antonio and will visit various other large cities of Texas before going to Durant, Okla., to make their home. The groom is a prosperous and highly esteemed young businessman of that place. Formerly he resided in Victoria. The bride is the popular and charming young daughter of A. GOLDMAN, one of the wealthiest and most prominent businessmen of this section.

Last evening at 8 o'clock at the beautiful St. Mary's Church in this city, the marriage of Mr. JOHN H. CLEGG and Miss LILLIAN ROSELLE was solemnized. Rev. Father TRESCH officiated. The arrival of the bridal party was heralded by the sweet voice of Miss SOPHIE GRAMANN singing "Because I Love You, Dear." Ushers were RAY GERVAIS and RICHARD FIELDS. Attendants were Miss MARGARET CALLANDER and Mr. JOHN HOGAN. Maid of Honor was Miss METTIE ROSELLE. The lovely bride appeared on the arm of her only brother, Mr. JOHN COLLIER. WHIPS, the popular and efficient manager of the local telephone exchange, and is one of Victoria's fairest and most accomplished young ladies. The groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. T.H. Mr. DEDEAR has been in the employ of the Conti Service Station for the past several months. The bride has been an employee of the Lawrence-Elstner Drug Store. Mr. and Mrs. DeDear returned Saturday from a brief honeymoon trip to Mexico.

Cuero-Record: Miss JUTZ, popular Cuero girl, was united in marriage on Sunday morning to WILLIAM DELANEY, employee of an oil company with headquarters in Victoria. The wedding occured at the Lutheran parsonage at 8:15 Sunday morning, Rev. JOHN KERN reading the marriage lines. The bride's only attendant was her close friend, Mrs. IRENE MAYNE. Following the ceremony Mr. and Mrs. DELANEY left in their car for a wedding trip to San Antonio, Corpus Christi and the Rio Grande Valley and upon their return will be at home at the Goodwin Apartments in Victoria.

The Temple of B'Nai Israel was the scene of a beautiful and impressive wedding Sunday evening, when Miss YETTA LAZOR, one of Victoria's fairest daughters, became the bride of HARRY GOLTZMAN of Corpus Christi, Rabbi KOLISH of Houston officiating. The temple was tastefully decorated with ferns and white chrysanthemums. At the appointed hour the wedding march, played by Mrs. A.N. HENRY at the organ and Mrs. SYLVAN HANNIG, violin, marked the entrance of the bridal party.

The bridal couple passed through the city last evening en route to Hobsen where they will spend a few days after which they will return to Hallettsville, their future home.

Combining a continental vacation with the celebration of their 34th wedding anniversary, Dr. and Mrs. JACK KAHN are on the high seas aboard the Queen Elizabeth headed for two months of adventure and pleasure in England and European countries. The Victoria couple flew to New York Saturday and sailed for Southampton, England, on Wednesday.

Quite a number of out-of-town relatives and friends augmented the large number of Victorians present for the marriage. The attendants were Miss RUTH McMULLEN, sister of the bride, maid of honor; Mrs. CECIL CRADDOCK of Goliad, matron of honor and CECIL CRADDOCK best man. The maid of honor entered first on the arm of her brother, WALTER HENRY McMULLEN.

Mr. KNEBLE is a young man of the finest character and gives promise of a brilliant career in the Land department of the Humble Oil and Refining Company with headquarters in Corpus Christi, where the couple will make their home.

The groom is a brakeman on the Southern Pacific and must be an extraordinary young man to captivate such a lovely bride. People were there who had traveled distances ranging from one to four hundred miles to enjoy the hospitality of these most hospitable people.

City Engineer F.B. LOWERY, a 64 year-old widower is engaged to marry his childhood sweetheart, a 63 year-old widow, in Milwaukee May 12. His fiancee, Mrs. GRACE PETERSON, is the mother of four children. LOWRY and Mrs. PETERSON, then GRACE MYERS, went together for four years. the romance was interupted when he went to college and her family moved to Milwaukee. They hadn't seen each other since 1908. He telephoned her while vacationing in Wisconsin last July. At that time she was getting ready to leave for Victoria to visit a son stationed at Foster Air Force Base. When she mentioned this to Lowry, she learned he'd been living in Victoria since 1931. Later he proposed and she accepted by mail.

SAM F. LUCCHESE and bride of Atlanta, Ga. arrived in Victoria last night on their honeymoon. They have been in New Orleans and Galveston and also will visit San Antonio before their return to Atlanta. Mr. Lucchese is the son of Mr. and Mrs. JOSEPH LUCCHESE of this city. For the past two years he has been Sunday editor of the Atlanta American and is attaining much prominance in southern journaslistic circles. He began his career in journalism as a newspaperman on The Advocate.

This morning at about 11 o'clock a quiet wedding was solemnized at the home of Mr. and Mrs. FRANK ALONZO in this city in the presence of a few intimate friends. The contracting parties were B.K. MICHAEL of Yoakum and Mrs. KATHERINE ANDERSON of this city.
The ceremony was performed by Judge H.A. CARSNER in his usual impressive style. Much amusement was occasioned by the cutting of the wedding cake. Miss JOSEPHINE WILDEN got the ring, Miss MARGARET ALONZO the dime, and LEANDER WILDEN the button. A large number of their friends escorted the bridal couple to the depot, where they took the train for Houston. From Houston they will visit various Northern cities and while on their bridal tour will probably visit Niagara and the Jamestown Exposition.

Only one or two of their most intimate friends were aware of their intention. The announcement in today's Advocate will no doubt be the first news of their marriage to a great many of them. Mr. and Mrs. MORRIS will return to Victoria about August 1.

Miss Wagner was born and reared in this county and is a very popular young lady, who is loved by her friends for her many excellent traits of character. VANDENBERGE received - and in due honor of a noteworthy event, thus signalized the date as marking the fifteenth milestone in their journey of wedded life. The marriage of J.P. WAGNER and Miss MYRTLE WEBBER was solemnized yesterday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock at the residence of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. H.H. WEBBER in this city. The Rev. F.W. WHITE oficiated. The groom is a young mechanic of Houston, who now lives at Cheatham, Colorado County, and is quite a promising young man. He was formerly brakeman on the Victoria Division of the G.H. and S.A. Railroad. The bride is a young lady highly esteemed among her numerous friends.

HOWARD WEAVER-EDNA HAMILTON

Miss EDNA HAMILTON, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.B. HAMILTON of Telferner, and HOWARD WEAVER of Fort Worth were married at the First Baptist Church in Midland on St. Valentine Day. Miss HAMILTON was reared in Victoria County. She was valedictorian of the class of 1923 at Patti Welder High School and honor graduate of Texas Christian University. She is now engaged in teaching commercial subjects in McCamey High School. Mr. WEAVER is manager of the McCamey Oil Well Supply Co.
