Harrison Cemetery

This cemetery is located on the west side of the road just north of the intersection of Meadowbrook Drive and Ederville Road. This is about a quarter mile south of Interstate 30 in east Fort Worth.

The Historical Marker reads:
HARRISON CEMETERY

When first used this one acre cemetery belonged to Tarrant County Pioneer D. C. Harrison. The earliest known grave is that of Mary E. Harrison (1864 - 1871). Several early settlers used this site, including R. A. Randol (1850 - 1922), the operator of the Randol Mill, who bought this tract in 1876 and deeded it over as a burial ground. Graves here number about sixty and include those of the Edward deason family, Randol's first wife Rhonda Harrison (1859 - 1882), his brother John C. Randol (1833 - 1894) who died in a mill accident and Nancy Cannon Harrison (1833 - 1883) mother of Ronda Harrison Randol.

At one time or another, each of the above inscriptions have been recorded. Many if not most of the stones have been destroyed or have dissappeared. The cemetery was recorded in 1956 by the Daughters of the American Revolution and in 1974 by David Dunnett for the Texas County Historical Commission. I visited the cemetery in 1991 and found it very over grown and with few visible markers. In the first recorded inventory of this cemetery it was noted that there were about 50 additional graves marked with field stones.

Nancy R. Cannon Harrison the wife of D.C. Harrison and mother of Rhonda B. Harrison Randol was the daughter of Carter C. and Martha Cannon who moved to Tarrant Co. about 1854. D.C. Harrison was the orriginal owner of the land this cemetery is located on and it was on the property line shared with his father-in-law, C.C.Cannon.
