Ford Cemetery

Ford Cemetery is located in Grand Prairie, Texas at 602 Fountain Parkway. From Interstate I-30 in far east Arlington, go north on State Highway 360 to the Fountain Parkway exit. Go east to the 600 block and begin looking between the buildings on the north side of the road. Look toward the back of a deep parking lot and you will see the stones standing on a rise. It is surrounded by commercial buildings on 3 sides.

[Nelda Thompson has provided us these instructions for locating the cemetery. Her husband's great-grandparents were William and Mary Jane Bellomy.]

[Jean Silverthorne, who has been in contact with us, has a research interest in the Hamby Family buried here.]

  Additional Information
Provided by Dana Hudson Garrison

This cemetery was a portion of the Washington TRAYLOR land, and the heirs sold the property all except 1/2 acre that contained the burial ground. Portions of Washington Traylor's land went to his daughter, Harriet Malissa Traylor Clifton Goodwin Meyers, who is also buried there. [Her 2 sons-Clifton- also buried in this cemetery]. Harriet's lst. husband [Clifton] died in the Civil War, her 2nd. was M. Goodwin [possibly Micajah, a son of John Goodwin who had the original survey of 640 acres where Washington's land was], her 3rd. was John Meyers, who outlived her and later sold some land to a J.B. Lasater with P.H. Ford as witness. Due to the fact that the courthouse burned in Tarrant Co. this information was not found until much later; thus the cemetery is named Ford Cemetery. The Traylors are my g.g. grandparents.
