SHEFFIELD Effie Melindia Ford Tims was born September 13, 1920, in Breckinridge,
Texas, to Duffy Forrest Sr. and Naomi Melinda Summrall Ford. She passed from this life into the arms of her Savior on
August 12, 2007, in San Angelo, TX.
Effie married Aubrey Marvin Tims on November 27, 1937. They had two sons, Cecil Forrest “Johnny” Tims and Robert Allen Tims. Aubrey and Effie moved to Sheffield, TX in 1959. They were faithful members of Mother Holmes Memorial Baptist Church in Sheffield for 48 years. They were valued and loved members of the congregation. “Granny” loved her family with all her heart and some of our greatest memories center around just being part of her life. Granny and Grandad never hesitated to load up all the grandchildren for a trip and a wonderful time was always in the plans. One of her greatest joys was attending Paisano Baptist Encampment and she attended faithfully as long as she could. She was preceded in death by her husband on January 8, 1990, her father and mother, two brothers, Little William and “Son”, two sisters, Vinna and Claudia, and a nephew, Marvin Ford. She is survived by her son Johnny and daughter-in-law Pearl of Chickasha, OK, son Bob and daughter-in-law Joyce of Sheffield, TX. Grandson Steve Tims, wife Alana and great-grandchildren Rachel and Jake of Midland, TX. Granddaughter Tammy Janicek, husband Jeff of Chickasha, OK and great-grandchildren Zack of Garland and Kasey of Denton. Granddaughter Robin Scott, husband Joe Bob, great-grandchildren Lena, Lauren, Lynsi, Brice and great-great granddaughter Shayleigh, all of Alpine. Grandson Veldon Tims, wife Tara and great-grandchildren Hayden, Allison and Katie of Canton, GA. Granddaughter Trena Pitts, husband Johnny and great-granddaughter Haley of The Woodlands, TX. Nephew R. F. Ford and wife Liz of Water Valley, TX. Niece Jackie Collins and husband Frank of Midland, TX. Niece Linda Fay Berry and husband Leonard of Dickinson, ND. Services will be held at the Mother Holmes Memorial Baptist Church in Sheffield at 10:00 AM on Thursday August 16th. Burial will be held at the Kermit cemetery at 3:00 PM on Thursday. The family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers. She will be terribly missed by her family and the innumerable number of people whose lives she has touched. We’re taking comfort in the fact that the gates of Heaven swung open wide for her and Grandad was waiting there with a cup of coffee and a smile. She is home. Services are under the direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home. |
