Around the Table
The Seniors consider it their moral duty to charge these students to abide by the following commandments of etiquette: Louise, when seated at the dinner table, thou shalt keep thy feet upon the table legs. Patty, thou shalt always use a fork when cutting butter. Bernard, thou shalt not reach across the table for a biscuit; use thy fork for this purpose. Lois, thou shalt always sop thy gravy with thy bread. Walter, thou shalt always break thy crackers in thy soup. Doris, thou shalt always gargle thy soup, tea and coffee without fail. Paul, always when leaving the table, wipe thy mouth cleanly on thy cuff. Josephine, thou shalt always take plenty of a dish at the first helping, for at the second helping the plate might be empty. Donald, when things are being passed to thee, thou shalt always take the choicest. Jerry, always fill thy mouth to overflowing before speaking when at the table. |
