High School Honors Won By Fort Stockton Boy

An incident worthy the interest of all school boys and girls, as well as others interested in the intellectual advancement of the youth of our country, is offered as an inspiration and a guiding star to all struggling educators, viz: the laurels won by Granville Moore at the commencement exercises of the Fort Stockton high school on the evening of May 25th, 1928.

Granville Moore, 19 years of age, a resident of Fort Stockton, was the deserving recipient of the following honors: Having made the highest grade in the senior class he became valedictorian and for the same reason was presented with a scholarship, with eligibility to numerous colleges in Texas.

He was presented with a medal for the highest average of the senior class, a medal for the highest average in mathematics and a medal for the highest average in high school.

Fort Stockton is proud of Granville Moore. He has already been called a second Abraham Lincoln, and a future second to none, in whatever life work chosen, is predicted for him.

The subject of his Valedictory, in harmony and accord with the honors won, was "Character."

Granville has achieved this honorary goal by earnest, intent application. While others played he worked.

It is said that he has not been absent at Sunday School since he was 11 years old, during which time he has built a foundation of Christian manhood as a base for his "Character" which he has carved from the materials available to every boy and girl in America. He is destined to be a "Leader of Men."
