Castro County is located in the lower part of the Texas Panhandle, next to New Mexico and is named for
Martin Parmer, a signer of the Texas Declaration of Independence. The county seat is Farwell in the southwestern corner
of the county. Our neighboring counties are
Curry and
Roosevelt counties on the west in New Mexico,
Bailey and
Lamb counties in the south,
Castro County in the east and
Deaf Smith in the north.
