John William Simpson
Apline - Graveside services for John w Simpson, 65, longtime Marfa resident, were set for 2 pm today in the marathon Cemetery under the direction of Geeslin Funeral Home. Officiating was to be Rev Edwin Chappell, minister of the First Methodist Church of Alpine.
Simpson died late Friday afternoon in a Nashville, Tenn, hospital of an apparent heart attack. He had moved to Nashville last summer.
Born Jan 21, 1903, in Capitan, NM, he was reared in Marathon and was a retired plumber. Simpson was a Methodist.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs Ellen Pittman of Mt Juliet, Tenn; three sons, John Simpson of Thousand Oaks, Calif, Robert Simpson with the Army at Fort Ord, Calif; and Thomas Simpson of Nashville; a sister, Mrs Clarence Lee of Marathon; a brother, E G Simpson of Marfa; and 10 grandchildren.
