William Buckner Burditt

William Buckner Burditt was born on Nov. 21, 1810, in Tennessee, the son of Jessee and Mildred Burditt. He married Caroline Whitaker on Feb. 14, 1831, in Tennessee and joined Vehlein's Colony, along with his parents and several siblings, in 1834.

William Buckner and several brothers served in William Kimbro's San Augustine Company at San Jacinto. His children were Martha, John W., Jesse, Ann William Buckner Jr., and Patience. William Buckner and Caroline moved with John W. to Papalote, Bee county, TX, in 1859. They moved with John W. to the Nueces Canyon and on to Frio Canyon, where the Burditt Ranch was established near Leakey, TX, in 1882.

Caroline died Feb. 14, 1892, and William Buckner died Aug. 1, 1894. Both are buried in Leakey, TX.
