* Gottfried and Dorothea's daughter, Lina Schmaltz, was widowed in 1896. Lina's second marriage was to John Henry Schroeder on July 18, 1900, in Waco, Tx.
* Gottfried and Dorothea Blankenstein immigrated to the U.S. in 1870. They lived in Pennsylvania a short while before moving to Defiance, Ohio, where they lived until 1878. In that year, they moved to Texas, settling at Cleburne, in Johnson Co. Dorothea died of pneumonia in 1881 after she had traveled in a stagecoach from Cleburne to Marlin, Texas, to visit her ill daughter, Louise Fink. Gottfried C. Blankenstein died in Waco, Tx. in 1900 and was buried in the First Street Cemetery in Waco near Fort Fisher.
