* It is not proven that Henrietta was the mother of Smith GRIFFITH, he is listed here to show him as the son of John H. GRIFFITH. Smith is first on the 1870 census in the home of John H., Henrietta is not listed and there is a Susan born c 1825 who "could" be his mother depending on date of death of Henrietta.
* John H. is believed to have married another time to Mary Ann LAYNE on 17 May 1883 in Sequatchie County. She could have been his 2nd or perhaps 3rd wife. Until proof is found of date of death of Henrietta and IF John H. was married a 2nd time to a "Susan" born c 1825, it will not be known if Mary Ann LAYNE is 2nd or 3rd wife.
