I have copy of Henry Roach's probate, in which his children are named. Henry's
wife was Frances "Frankie" Hudson, dau. of Forester Hudson. I am descended from
his son, James Roach who married Mary Brown. At the time of settlement of the
estate Berry was out of state (I guess in
Mississippi) and when he claimed his share (after the Civil War ended) it was
worthless because it had been invested in Confederate treasury notes. His dau.
Nancy married Thomas Elrod. Henry Roach of Franklin Co., GA died ca 1859. His
estate papers are quite lengthy. His heirs were: James Roach of Whitfield Co.
Forrester Roach William Roach daughter who married Thomas Elrod Elias Roach
Berry Roach (not mentioned until 1867 when he refused to accept Confederate
currency as his share of the inheritance). (I descend from him and he was living
in Tippah Co., MS at that time and they had difficulty locating him.) Albert
could have been a son but wasn't listed in the estate papers. However, Henry is
residing with him in 1850 so he's likely some
relation???)

Jo Jenkins found this. She died and Sydne Lee Roach West inherited her research.
Jo was working on a Roach book but evidently never completed it. I have been
turning this house upside down trying to find Jo's citations. I have a note from
Jo that "Frankie" Roach inherited land from Forester Hudson. The abstracts of
Deed Book C-1 Wilkes Co. 16 Apr. 1788 Forest Hudson to Daniel Yarnall 70 acres
on N side of Yadkin River...John Brown's line...said land granted Henry Hudson
25 Mar. 1780, "which land by decease of Henry Hudson hath descended to Forrist
Hudson as his heir at law." Elizabeth Hudson, widow of Henry Hudson,
relinquished dower. Jo also sent a note that Henry Hudson was in Amelia Co. VA
in Nottaway Parish in 1763 with 1 Poll and 210 acres. Sydne's e-mail is
roach1945slee@hotmail.com She should be able to send the other source citations.
I have not worked this lines in a number of years and a little rusty about
knowing exactly where my records are. If I find more on the Hudsons will let you
know.
