* Barbara's data is detailed in her father's estate papers which include his
voluminous will. In this will he gives an inheritance to her son, Thomas Galphin Holmes,
to be under the guardianship of her husband, William Holmes. Her estate file from the
Barnwell County Probate/Equity court names her legal heirs as "Thomas G. Holmes, George
Bowers (he the son of Mary G. Holmes Wood Bowers), and Simon Coker for his wife Martha
(she the only surviving daughter of Judith Lehiffe).
* Alabama historican Gen. Thomas Woodward knew Thomas G. Holmes personally and
named his parents as Barbara Galphin, dau. of George Galphin, and William Holmes.
* The two daughters are listed in extensive files in both Edgefield and Barnwell
courts.
