Notes:
  * The George A. PINKERTON Family Bible was passed down from George A. PINKERTON to his son, Dr. Burton Leroy PINKERTON, then to his son, Burton L. PINKERTON, Jr., then to his first cousin, Betty PINKERTON HENDRICKS, then to her brother, Harold LeRoy PINKERTON, Sr. who has the five original front pages containing G.A. PINKERTON's hand written entries into the Family Bible for each of his eight children.
  * The oral history entries are found in the "PINKERTON-PEIFFER FAMILY JOURNAL" compiled by Sharon Pinkerton Wayland, Ed.D. (1992): (22,23) p16, (24)p19.
  * (25) believed to be the inspiration for the name "Wellington".
  * There is a discrepancy in Kathryn's middle name: it occurs as both "Ellen" and "Edith" in various records.
  * Harold L. PINKERTON Genealogy Source Notebook "WELLS PINKERTON". Harold LeRoy PINKERTON, Sr. is the grandson of Wells Wellington PINKERTON.
  * The Federal Census data for the Wells PINKERTON - Family Group Sheet was culled from the Heritage Quest On- Line Database.
  * The inspiration for Pinkerton Genealogy by Harold L. PINKERTON and his daughter, Sharon P. WAYLAND came from communication with Paul W. PINKERTON, Jr. a distant cousin (1915-1990), and his daughter Helen P.RYDELL, who from 1984-1990 worked on mapping the various branches of Pinkerton cousins.
