Notes:
*After the death of Joseph PINKERTON in 1854, Susan (SHADOW) PINKERTON, mother of Benjamin Franklin PINKERTON, remarried Emanuel L. RIFFERT and had eight additional children. (1870 Federal Census, Tremont, Schuylkill County, PA)
*There is a discrepancy in the marriage entry for B.F. PINKERTON in which the Federal Census records for 1900 and 1910 indicate that his marriage to Rea KLOS is his first marriage. His marriage to Rea KLOS was in fact, his third marriage, after his first divorce (disertion) from Susan MOYER PINKERTON and his second divorce (adultery) from Mary E. RUSS. In addition, in 1900 it is reported that he had been married for one year (1899); but in 1910, it is reported that he has been married for 15 years (1885).
*Harold L. PINKERTON, Sr. Genealogy Source Notebook "Benjamin F. PINKERTON". Harold is the great-great grandson of George PINKERTON.
*The inspiration for PINKERTON Genealogy by Harold L. PINKERTON and his daughter, Sharon P. WAYLAND came from communication with a grandson of B.F. PINKERTON. Paul W. PINKERTON (1915-1990) a distant cousin, and his daughter Helen P. RYDELL worked for many years to map the various branches of PINKERTON cousins descended from Hugh PINKERTON (1767-1852).
