Notes:
* Alpheus Pinkerton's mother, Susan Shadow PINKERTON, remarried Emanuel L. REIFFERT and had eight additional
children.
* Alpheus Pinkerton left his mother's home in Tremont, Pennsylvania after 1870 to join his older sister
Minnie "Kitty" Sutherland and her family in Atlantic County, Iowa: 1880 Federal Census Locust Street, Atlantic, Cass
County, Iowa: "John SUTHERLAND, 51, Veterinary Surgeon, born in NY; Minnie 26, wife, keeping house, born in PA; Ida 9,
born in Iowa."
* A Lucy PINKERTON B- May 29, 1886, D - August 19, 1899 is buried in the Mountain View Cemetery, Pueblo,
Colorado. This may or may not be one of the unknown children of Alpheus and Susan PINKERTON.
* Alpheus Pinkerton's son's name in the 1910 census is very difficult to read. It appears to be "Cale"
however, in the 1900 Census, his son born in 1893 appears to be "Dell".
* There is a discrepancy in the birth year of Alpheus F. PINKERTON between his tombstone "1852-1937", and the
birth year given in the 1900 Federal Census, December 1853"
* Derivation of the name "Alpheus" - There are two biblical references: Alpheus the father of Levi (Mark
2:14)and "Alpheus" the father of the disciple James. (Matthew 10:3, Mark 3:18) "Alpheus" is also the name of a river god
in Greek Mythology.
* The "Wyacondah" was a boarding house on 4th Ave, Pueblo, Colorado operated by Alpheus and his wife Susan J.
PINKERTON. (1913-1915)
* Harold L. PINKERTON Genealogy Source Notebook "Joseph PINKERTON". Harold is the great- great grandson of
George PINKERTON of Tremont, PA, brother of Joseph PINKERTON of Tremont, PA.
* The inspiration for Pinkerton Genealogy by Harold L. PINKERTON and his daughter, Sharon P. WAYLAND came
from communication with Paul W. PINKERTON (1915-1990) a great-grandson of Joseph PINKERTON, and his daughter Helen P.
RYDELL, who in 1984-1990 worked on mapping the various branches of PINKERTON cousins.
* The Federal Census data for the Alpheus F. PINKERTON - Family Group Sheet was culled from the Heritage
Quest On-Line Database.
