Notes:
* Harold L. PINKERTON, Sr. genealogy source notebook "Isaac PEIFFER Family" contains a section on James PEIFFER.
Harold LeRoy PINKERTON, Sr. is a grandson of William Francis PEIFFER (1867-1929), the brother of James PEIFFER.
* A search of the Federal Census records on-line at Heritage Quest.com reveals no James Peiffer (Peifer or Pifer),
born about 1869 in Pennsylvania, or in any other state including Kentucky after 1900.
* In 1900, James A. Peiffer, age 31 was living with his in-laws and working as a coal miner. He had been a widower
for nine years. In addition to his wife, his mother was also dead and his father, Isaac had remarried a woman named
Rebecca. He revealed in the 1900 Census that for the past year he had only been employed six months. He left Schuylkill
County, searching for work. He told his brother, William, that he was heading to Kentucky and that was the last words
any family member ever heard from him.
