MAN DIES SUDDENLY WHILE WALKING ALONG THE ROAD.
Enexpected (sic) End of W. B. Marble Yesterday Afternoon
W. B. Marble, who for many years contracted (?) a blacksmith shop on the Healdsburg
road at Gwnyy's Cormers, died suddenly of heart trouble on the old Gamble place near the
Laguna, yesterday afternoon, where he had gone on a business trip in his auto.
Mr. Marble invited Mrs. Nettie Willard of Berry Lane to accompany him on the trip. He
complained of feeling poorly, having been for some time bothered with heart trouble. When
he reached the entrance to the private road leading up to the Gamble place, he decided to
leave the car on the highway and walk.
Mrs. Willard says he told her to remain in the car and if he did not return in a short
time she had better follow and see if he was all right. After waiting about three-quarters
of an hour. Mrs. Willard says she left the car and walked up the road. She followed Mr.
Marble and reached the top of a sharp rise in the road just as he fell to the ground.
She did what she could to resusicate him, but all to no avail, and satisfying herself
that the life-spark had flown, she retraced her steps to the car on the county road. Al
Locke, of the Locke Fruit Company, came along shortly afterwards in his car and she
explained her plight and he brought her to town, where she reported the case to Frank
Welti, wo in turn, notified Coroner Blackburn, who directed that the body be brought to
the Welti establishment to await the inquest.
W. H. Schleffer and Noyes Cordingly went out after the Marble car, while Nelson G.
Gregg of Welti Bros. brought in the body to their establishment here.
J. P. Stanley went out to the Marble home last evening and informed the deceased's wife
of her husband's sudden death. Beside the widow, a married daughter survive him. The son-
in-law, Mr. Renshaw conducts an auto repair shop at Windsor.
