Documentation:
* Information transcribed from the family Bible prior to 1925.
Notes:
* John TILLMAN, father of Tobias, played a major role in early Colonial North Carolina affairs. In reading Mrs.
Inglis Fletcher's book, "The Wind in the Forest" (1957), TILLMAN / TILGHMAN researchers believe that the character
Hillary CASWELL represents a blend of John and his son Tobias; John being the Secretary to the Governor of Colonial
North Carolina.
* Tobias TILLMAN Revolutionary War: North Carolina Militia, under Captain William O'Neal's "Company of Mounted Men";
also, Colonel Butler's Regiment of the North Carolina Line; also, served several short tours as a "Minute Man".
* Tobias TILLMAN War of 1812: Drafted, but sent a substitute.
Submitter is the 4th great grandson of Tobias through his daughter, Sarah Margaret.
