ALLEN VOYLES
Services for Allen Voyles, Rt. 3, Corinth, will be Thursday at 3:00 p.m. at Coleman Funeral Home, Mid-Town Chapel.
Mr. Voyles died at Magnolia Hospital at 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday after an extended illness. He was 86.
Burial will be in the Farmington Cemetery. The Rev. Gordon Renshaw will officiate.
Mr. Voyles was a member of the Farmington Baptist Church. He was a retired employee of Weaver's Pants Factory, a retired farmer and landowner. He was married to Dora Griffin Voyles who preceded him in death in 1971.
His survivors include 2 sons, Herschell and Edward Voyles, both of Corinth; 2 sisters, Mrs. Telia King and Mrs. Jennie Taylor, both of Corinth; 3 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers include Floyce Fowler, Carroll Mills, Kenneth Rogers, Ed Meldon, A.C. Bumpass and Bobby Robbins.
Visitation hours are scheduled from 4-10 p.m. today and until service time on Thursday.

FIFTIETH ANNIVERSARY FOR MR. & MRS. VOYLES (picture included with article)
M/M Allen Voyles of Route No. 3, Corinth, were entertained at their home by their children on June 24 with an open house. The celebration was for their Golden Wedding Anniversary.
Summer flower arrangements were used throughout the house in shades to carry out the golden color scheme.
The tea table was overlaid with a beautiful lace cloth over gold linen.
A lovely three-tiered cake graced the center of the table, flanked with triple yellow tapers.
The guests were greeted and registered in a lovely golden anniversary book by Mrs. Dewey Wall.
Miss Jenette Busby invited the guests into the dining room where they were served individual block cake topped with gold rose buds. Jenette was assisted by her mother, Mrs. Maurice Busby, Mrs. R.E. Hammell, Mrs. John Voyles and Mrs. Thelma Austin. They were also served nuts, mints and punch.
Mr. John McNair was a special guest for the afternoon. He was a witness at the Voyles' Wedding 50 years ago.
The out-of-town guests that attended the open house were M/M Dewey Wall and Terry from Lafayette, LA, M/M Odell Phifer, Debbie and Don, M/M James Bennett, Edward A. Voyles, from Memphis, TN, M/M T.H. Austin, and Johnny from Decatur, AL, Mrs. Tony Morris from Pickwick, TN, Rev. and Mrs. C.C. Perry from Glen, MS, M/M E.F. Jackson, M/M John Bivens, Howard Peters and Mrs. John Peters.
* Taken from Alcorn Co. Family History Book: Allen learned what hard work was young. He farmed for a time, then went to work for Weavers Pants Factory, and worked there for several years. He was a bus driver for Farmington School for several years. He also worked as janitor for Farmington School. Allen and Dora's sons took over the farming in later years.

MRS. DORA VOYLES RITES SET TUESDAY AT 3 P.M.
Funeral services for Mrs. Allen (Dora) Voyles, Corinth, will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the Farmington Baptist Church. The Rev. Thelbert Hill will officiate with burial in the Farmington Cemetery. McPeters Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Voyles, 74, died June 14 at 12:30 a.m. at Magnolia Hospital after a lengthy illness. She was a Baptist and was born in Alcorn Co.
She leaves her husband, C. Allen Voyles of the home; two sons, Hershel Voyles and Edward Voyles, both of Corinth; a daughter, Mrs. Naomi Wall, Lafayette, LA; 3 brothers, P.C. Griffin, Corinth; Claude Griffin, Berkley, MI; and Dewey Griffin, Corinth; 2 sisters, Mrs. Florence Voyles, Corinth and Mrs. Alice Busby, Newport News, VA; 3 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers include Bud Phillips, Gerald Woods, Floyce Fowler, Earl Brewer, Hershal Jones and Kenneth Rogers.

Mr. Allen Voyles and family desires to use this means to express thanks and appreciation to all of our friends, neighbors and loved ones who helped and comforted us during the extended illness and death of our dear wife, mother, and grandmother, Mrs. Dora Voyles. We wish to express special thanks to Dr. M.H. McRae, and nurses, and to many workers of Magnolis Hospital who were so kind and considerate to her and to us as they labored patiently to ease her pain and make her comfortable. Our thanks go also to Rev. Thelbert Hill, singers, musicians and to McPeters Funeral Home which served us with kindness and consideration in our grief.
