* Joe is not living with his father Henry O. Roach in 1860. Henry had just married widow Susan Solomon Teague, and Susan had several children of her own, and her mother was living with them as well. Joe may have been too much of a burden on them at this time, and I believe his grandparents Berry and Malinda Roach took Joe to live with them temporarily. Living with Berry and Malinda in 1860 is a Joseph Roach, aged 4, and although he is not listed as being their grandchild, I believe that's who he is.
