His parents, Aden and Abigail Post, were natives of Connecticut, of English descent. He received a common-school education and was occupied 12 years of his early life as a ship carpenter. Mr. Post came to Kent county in 1858 and settled in Lowell twp. on a farm which he brought to a high degree of cultivation, second to none in the twp., and excelled by few in the county. Husband's notes
Biography: According to church records, a Joseph Carter POST was baptised Feb 29, 1828 as the son of Hezekiah and Lucy POST, along with Charles Hezekiah [POST], Lucy Perly [POST] and Bela Clark [POST]. I have since learned (from Sue Gable) that there was indeed another Joseph Carter Post, born to Hezekiah and Lucy Post at about the same time. The name "Carter" was a relatively common surname and is the maternal grandmother's name in both cases. 9/12/2003 - WEP
