* Arthurs draft registration lists his birth date as May 14, 1874. Probably a move calculated to help him avoid the draft for WW1. All Census records indicate his birth year as 1876. Death record shows 1876. He was a textile mill worker. He is buried in the Village cemetery in Pittsfield, Maine. (11) 1880 Census has him listed as Alfred.
* Arthur appears to have left Mabel Knight in Pittsfield, Maine, when she became pregnant with Leona in 1906, at which point he moved to Plymouth, Mass. He later married Ora Newton in New Hampshire without apparently divorcing Mabel. In 1918 he moved to Skowhegan, Maine. Mabel was living in Lincolnville, Maine, which allowed Arthur to avoid bigamy charges. In 1920 he moved back to Pittsfield. It’s likely that Arthurs’ abandonment of Mabel is the reason that his half-brother Clayton, always refused to have anything to do with Ralph.
* Arthur married twice, in ME and NH, and lived with a third in MA. He sired nine (9) children between these three women, three of which died in infancy. His marriage certificate to Ora lists him as Widowed. However, his first wife, Mabel was still very much alive and living in Massachusetts.
* Mabel, Arthur’s first wife, left her children sometime after the 1910 US Census, and some time in 1911, when she was married to Jesse Murphy in Boston. Her children were raised by her parents in Lincolnville, ME. (Emma Mabel Knight > Pushor > Murphy). Clayton may have decided to spell his last name as Pushaw b/c of antipathy toward his father.
