* St. Landry Clarion, Opelousas, Louisiana, Saturday, December 16, 1905, page 3: James H. Seiley, charged with the murder of Roland Willis, near Bond postoffice on October 21st last. The killing occurred at a ball, and death resulted from a blow with a pistol in the hands of Seiley, striking Willis on the left side of the head and fracturing the skull. Willis died the next day.
The case went to trial Monday morning, and at 9:30 that night a verdict of not guilty was rendered.... The verdict was rendered after about ten minutes of deliberation.

Mamou - Jim H. Seiley, mayor of Mamou, attempted to jump off of a wagon near his residence and broke his left leg. Drs. Guillory and Marshall, who attended, said the injury was a serious one, and might cause Mr. Seiley to lose his leg.

Pioneer Resident of Mamou Buried -
Mamou - Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon for Mrs. James H. Seiley, 88, the former Clara LeDoux, who died following a month's illness.
Services were read at St. Ann Catholic Church here by Father J. A. LeBlanc and interment was in the family plot at Spring Prairie.
Mrs. Seiley was born Aug. 18, 1865, in Chataignier. She was married 68 years ago and lived near Beaver until 1911 when the family came to Mamou. In 1932 she returned to Beaver, then known as Spring Prairie.
Surviving are three sons, Marshall of Hammond, Mark and James of Mamou; six daughters, Mrs. I. L. Fontenot of Oakdale, Mrs. J. K. Fontenot, Miss Mae Seiley and Miss Beulah Seiley of Ville Platte, Mrs. Taylor Vidrine of Mamou, and Mrs. James Roberts of Lafayette.
Also surviving are 18 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Ardoin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangement.
