* Hardly anything can be found on John J. MOSLEY. A land record in Sabine Parish, LA from 1849 and military records for the 11th Batallion LA Inf are about all, except for census records. He enlisted in Many, LA on 14 May 1862. John married Caroline FORD in about 1850 in Louisiana. She is shown in the 1850 census of Sabine Parish in her parents home, and in the 1860 with John MOSLEY and their children. Her grandfather William FORD is shown next door. Caroline's father Thomas FORD migrated to Bosque Co., Texas in 1854 from Sabine Parish, LA. He was appointed county judge there in 1866 by the Reconstruction government. By 1870 John J. MOSLEY and family were living in Red River Co., Texas and were still there in the 1880 census. Caroline FORD was probably born in Georgia, some say Louisiana. It would be difficult to say for certain (and censuses vary), because she was born about the time that her father Thomas and family moved to Louisiana.
