EVENTS
1 During his marriage, the Velgersdyks lived in Rock Valley for a short time,
then moved to various farms in Sioux and Lyon counties. In 1930, they moved
back to Rock Valley, where Mr. Velgersdyk went into the restruant business.
Then the depression times were upon us and times were hard for everyone. On
April 25, 1935, the family moved to Hawarden, where Mr. Velgersdyk was
employed by the Erken-Keiser Feed Mill. During WWII, her went to Bremerton,
Washington and Oakland California, where he worked in Shipyards. He had
various jobs when he returned to Hawarden before his retirement.
