Documentation:
Primary sources are family bibles, Census records,
obituaries, memorial stones and family papers. Albert or Bert as he
was
sometimes called is found in his wife's family bible. It gives his
birth
date and where he was born, along with Maude, three step children
(MARLOW) and his son by Maude, Don ROSENBERRY. There is no marriage
date
written. He is found in the 1880 census in Greens Fork twp, Randolph
Co,
Indiana. He is the youngest and it states he is four years old. In
his
brother's obituary (Francis Marion R.), it says the family moved there
in
1876 and then to Jay Co, Indiana in 1883. Then in 1884 they moved to
Anthony, Harper Co, KS and in 1885 moved to Meade Center twp, Meade
Co,
KS. In the 1900 census Meade Center twp, Meade Co, KS Albert is found
living with three older brothers, a young nephew, and his widowed mother.
In the same 1900 census and twp, Maude with her three sons (MARLOW)
are
living with her parents. In the 1910 Census Albert is listed as head
of
household with Maude, two of the MARLOW step-sons, and his son by Maude,
Don ROSENBERRY, 6 years of age. Albert ROSENBERRY was a drayman, had
a
livery stable and delivered freight from Dodge City, KS to Meade, KS.
He
delivered freight to the Dalton Gang Hideout and would meet the trains
with his surrey and take passengers to their destination. He also owned
a
small grain elevator at the Meade depot. The three MARLOW brothers
took
part in this business as did Don ROSENBERRY, until he became City Clerk
and then City Superintendent.
