The origin of Eaker was Egger and was from Switzerland. It took Peter Egger, swine herder, 40 years to make his way down the Rhine River to Rotterdam to a ship that brought him and some of his family to PA.
* Lorena went to Switzerland and did research there. By Lorena Eaker:
"October 21, 1762: Peter Egger from the Commune of Frutigen, with his wife, Verena and his children, emigrated to Carolina more than 40 years ago and has not been heard from since. His brother, Gilgian Egger, who died in the Commune of Frutigen, left Peter a legacy of 1100 pounds. The government grants permission to the relatives of the missing Egger to divide this legacy between them. They must, however, give security to the Commune."
* Diemeringen Reformed Church Book: Christian, born Feb. 14, 1724, baptised Feb. 16, 1724, son of Peter Ecker and his wife Veronica. This record also identified Peter as a swineherd at Ratzweiler (near Diemeringen) and a Swissman born in Canton Bern.
* Four children were confirmed in the Diedendorf Reformed Church Book: Barbara Eger in 1727, Catharina Eger in 1732, Peter Ecker in 1734 and Johannes in 1737. There is no record of Johannes confirmed 1737 in American records.
* Ship "Lydia" at Philadelphia September 29, 1741;

* Pennsylvania Land Office: Peter Ecker, Sr. receive warrant #165 for 50 acres in Lykens Township, Lancaster Co. on May 22, 1751, which was returned Feb. 14, 1816 and patented to Godfried Leitzell.
* NC Crown Patent Book 15:339/April 10, 1761/Peter Acre, Sr. received 266 acres on both sides of a south branch of Indian Creek by Lorance Kyser's land-including his own improvements and sold this on Aug. 22, 1773.
* World Family Tree CD's say the wife of Christian was Margaret Holshouser. I don't know where they got this information.
