* According to Melvin "Pat" Voyles "John's wife was Mary Borman. They moved to Lancaster Co., SC then to Greenville,
SC. Book of 1874 Atlas of Montgomery Co., IL states that John was a Revolutionary war veteran. John and Mary had at
least three other children. They were as follows: Jessee, Eli and Amos. John spelled his last name both Vowells and
Voyles. John's twin brother was also a revolutionary war veteran. He was private #18224. He served with Capt. Geo.
Slaughter in VA. Between 1775 and 1781 he fought in the Battles of Brandywine, Germantown and Yorktown."
