* Biography: from a Biographical Encyclodedia that belonged to Willis E. Robison, vol 1, #34, Aug 24, 1901, p. 529:
A High Councilor in the Millard Stake of Zion from 1869 to 1882, was born 11-9-1831, son of Jos. & Lucretia.
When but a small boy he emigrated with his parents to Illinois, expecting to join the Saints in Nauvoo, but the Prophet
Joseph Smith being Matyred at that time, the family settled in Will Co., about 30 miles so. of Chicago, where they
remained till 1854. Benj. married Lillis A. Andree, 5-12-1853, having embraced the gospel, the family were never
satisfied with their Illinois home, although fortune smiled on them financially; their hearts were with their co-
religionists in the Rocky Mountains. Consequently they sold their home and started for Utah in April 1854; they arrived
in SLC in Aug. same yr. After paying their tithing they continued the journey south to Fillmore, Millard County. Here
brother Robison worked with his family, to reclaim the desert, by breaking the soil, digging ditches, building forts,
standing guard to protect the community against indians, & in fact anything common to the lot of a frontiersman. In
1861 he went back to Illinois, where he spent the following winter and summer (getting horses & seeds). He was
called to Deseret, Millard County, in the fall of 1863, to preside over the Saints there, who were struggling to put in,
& keep a dam in the Sevier river; he spent his time & means working to make the undertaking a success until the
spring of 1868, when he was honorably released to return to his home in Fillmore. In 1863 he married Susannah Turner,
thus obeying the principle of plural marriage. At the organization of the Millard Stake on Zion he was chosen as one of
the High Council, & was set apart to the position 3-9-1869, which office he held until the time of his death, in
Fillmore Dec. 24, 1882. Elder Robison was a public-spirited man, & filled many positions of trust in the community.
His natural ability always kept him in the front ranks. In law matters he was regarded as good authority, & was
repeatedly elected Justice of the Peace for the city of Fillmore. At the time of his demise he was Mayor of the city,
& so deeply was his loss felt, that the Court House bell was muffled & kept tolling all day long. By his first
wife, Lillis, he raised 4 sons & 2 daughters, (see Willis E.) and by his 2nd wife, 5 sons and 3 daughters; all of
whom, together with their mothers, followed in the path he marked out for them, being faithful members of the LDS Church.
From a picture group sheet:
Benjamin Hancock Robison was the 2nd son born to Joseph Robison and Lucretia Hancock. His parents heard of the
Prophet Joseph Smith from Mormon Missionaries laboring New York State where the Robison family lived. Lucretia wanted to
be baptized at once but her husband ask her to wait for one year. One year later they were baptized the same day Feb. 1841.
Three years later the family started west to join the saints in Nauvoo, when they reached Chicago they were told
to go no farther the Prophet and his brother had been killed by a mob. The Robison family settled in Crete Will Co Ill.
This is where Benjamin met and married Lillas Alvira Andree, to them was born a son Willis Eugene. When he was six
months old the Robison's again started west, they had lived in Crete ten years. They were well equipped for the journey
and made it in 4 months, they had no sickness or deaths for which they were thankful. They only stopped in Salt Lake
long enough to get orders from Brigham Young. They were sent to Fillmore Millard Co.
Lillas was a devoted mother, Benjamin lived a very busy life, at the time of his death he was a High Councilman
in Millard Stake, mayor and had been justice of the peace, the day of his funeral the bells on the court house were
muffled and only tolled at intervals. The whole town mourned the loss. These two people were real Pioneers and were well
respected by all who knew them. They both left worthy records that any descendant can be proud. They are both buried in
the Fillmore City Cemetary.

FUNERAL RITES FOR FILLMORE PIONEER HELD ALMON ROBISON.
[Portrait included]
Funeral services for Almon Robison, verteran agriculturalist of southwestern Utah and pioneer of 1856, who died at his
home in Fillmore Tuesday, were held at Fillmore yesterday, with interment in Fillmore cemetery.
Mr. Robison was born in Crete, Ill., May 15, 1845, and , with his parents, came to Utah in July, 1856, settling in
Fillmore a month later. He turned to farming while a young man, and initiated methods of agriculture that were adopted
generally in southwestern Utah and that brought unfailing returns each year. In addition to his farming and stock
interests he was engages in banking and commercial pursuits in the western part of the state.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Josephine Robison, two brothers: Alvin Robison of Richfield and Franklin A. Robison of
Fillmore and one sister, Mrs. Lucretia P. Owens of Woodruff, Ariz.
* Obituary: Rogers, Sadie. East Millard Pioneers, Death Notices, As Published in the Progress 1913-1937, p. 86: The
Millard County Progress, Friday, 21 Feb 1919:
MANY FRIENDS ATTEND FUNERAL
Funeral services were held here on Saturday last for Almon Robison in the L.D.S. Chapel with Bishop Rufus Day in
charge. The speakers were Christian Anderson, James A. Kelly, Joshua Greenwood, James A. Melville and William P. Payne
all of whom spoke of the stalwart character and business integrity of the deceased. The last 4 speakers whose names are
given above journeyed from afar to attend the last rites over the remains, the deceased having been numbered among their
best friends during his lifetime.
Appropriate music was furnished by the Ward Choir and vocal solos were rendered by Mrs. Helen Derrick and Mrs.
Katherine Rasmussen. Many beautiful floral tributes were in evidence and the service was a very largely attended one.
Mr. Robison, as narrated in our last issue, was the son of Joseph and Lucretia Hancock Robison, and was born at
Crete, Ill., May 5, 1845. He crossed the plains with his parents in 1854 and came almost direct to Fillmore. In 1864 Mr.
Robison recrossed the plains and returned with a large body of immigrants. Since that time, by persistent effort and
good business management, he succeeded in building up a very large fortune and at the time of his death, was accounted
one of the richest men in Southern Utah.
In commenting upon his life the speakers laid great emphasis upon his faithfulness to his friends, and many a
man, who today is independently well off in this world's goods, has Mr. Robison to thank for the start he gave them in
life. Many there are, no doubt, who will miss his wise council in business affiars and farming pursuits, for he was
responsible for many changes being promulgated in this section in an agricultural way. After more music by the choir,
the funeral cortege wended its way to our cemetery where the remains were interred. May the peace of God that passeth
all understanding -----de his spirit into the care of our Heavenly Father. Amen.
