Documentation:
* William and Anne Keyte with their five children, Emma, William J, Robert W, George A, and Samuel immigrated to New Orleans, Jefferson, Louisianna in 1854. They arrived here on the Ella M Claw, a ship out of Liverpool, England May 3. They apparently continued their journey up the Mississippi River to Saint Louis, MO, thence to Greenville, Bond, Illinois. The youngest son, Samuel, the daughter Emma, and the father William, do not appear on the 1860 census. The record shows Samuel having died as an infant and William having died between May and December of 1854. We have not learned what happened to Emma. George and WIlliam J finally settled in McPherson, Kansas. Robert W settled in Pettis, Missouri. Anne was listed on the 1860 census as a seamstress. She lived for a while with her son Robert in Missouri. We believe that she and her husband, William, are buried in Greenville, Bond, Illinois. The oldest son, William J, joined the Union Army at the age of 16 and served 4 years.
