Notes:
* Stephen Lee served in the Confederate Army in Co. I, 3rd GA Regt. State Troops and later in Co. G., 56th REgt. GA Infantry as a Private.
* He was struck by lighting and killed while plowing his fields on July 4, 1876. An obituary for him listed a wife and four children. It is unknown if he had remarried after the death of Elizabeth (Braswell) Lee or if this was a mistake in the obituary. No record has been found of another marriage or wife or child. After his death his three children, Cicero, Georgia Ann, and Robert went to live with their great aunt, Nancy (Braswell) Gilbert and her husband Isham Gilbert. They are listed in the 1880 census living with the Gilberts.
* Robert Lee and his wife Effie A. had three daughters: Velvie, Annie A. and Lillie E. After the death of Robert and Effie the girls were placed in other homes. Velvie Lee went to live with John C. Gilbert and his wife Sarah (Burton) Gilbert and Annie Lee and Lillie E. Lee were placed with Greenberry Burgess and his wife Sallie V. (Buice) Burgess who adopted an raised these two girls.
* Stephen Lee and his wife Elizabeth Braswell were first cousins. Stephen's father and Elizabeth's mother were brother and sister.
* Stephen Lee and Elizabeth Braswell's parents are both buried are Union Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Forsyth Co., Georgia. Stephen parents, James and Susan (Stone) Lee's graves are marked, but Elizabeth Braswell parents, James and Nancy (Lee) Braswell graves are not.
