Notes:
Some Background: Carlisle B. Crow is the assumed brother to my GG Grandfather, Johnathan Wilson Crow, Coleman W. Crow, William Thompson Crow Sr. that remained in Franklin Co., possibly Lucinda Crow, Samuel B. Crow, Norman Morrison Crow, James M. Crow, and at least two unknown sisters. While I have no doubt that Samuel Crow 1 was the father of Carlisle B. Crow, and his siblings, I have not to date, Oct. 2002, been able to find actual documented proof, as such, just a lot of evidence they were their parents. The family apparently came to Elbert Co., GA from SC between 1799 and 1803, settling on the Savannah River at Powder Bag Creek, today?s Hart Co., GA area near Hartwell, where I believe their first GA child, Samuel B. Crow, was born about 1803. We find that Samuel Crow and Susannah later purchased more property in Franklin Co. GA in 1818, just about 20 miles or so southwest, near Royston and Franklin Springs on the Broad River and the Big and Little Rice Creeks. The family remained in Franklin Co. till about 1827, when most of the family (Wm. Thompson Crow Sr. stayed and died there, and Coleman W. Crow who remained there for till the late 1840's) moved on to Lower Hall Co., GA Robert's 413th. District, where we find Johnathan Wilson Crow enrolled in the poor school there in the 1829/30 school year. Most of our Hall Co. Crows were originally buried at the "old" Shoal Creek Baptist Church (that Samuel B. Crow helped establish c1830's re: Island Ford Baptist Church History [IFBC] by Randal Pugh) in Robert's 413th. District of Hall Co., where the family purchased land in Shoal Creek and the Chattahoochee River areas, and for the most part, is today under Lake Sidney Lanier. According to the Army Corps of Engineer's records, all the folks buried at the Old Church Cemetery, that they could find, were moved to various Cemeteries in Hall and Gwinnett Cos. GA areas, as were our Crows. Our Crows and allied families now rest, for the most part, at 4 church Cemeteries in the area, Island Ford Baptist Church, the "New" Shoal Creek Baptist Church, New Bethany Baptist Church, Hog Mountain Baptist Church, and others in these areas.
Anyone with additions, corrections, and additional information, is encouraged to contact me regarding these families for exchange of information.
