Notes:
* Joseph R. Prevatt and his wife Susannah were early settlers of Florida. Joseph R. Prevatt was
the son of James D. Prevatt, Sr. He and several brothers moved to Camden County, Georgia and later
into Florida. He and his wife were members of Pidgeon Creek Primitive Baptist Church (located at
Boulogne, Florida) and were reflected in the church minutes 1821, 1822, 1823, 1824 and 1825. The
family initially lived in Nassau County, Florida until around the 1840's when they moved to Columbia
County, Florida. The list of children for Joseph R. Prevatt and his wife Susannah is not considered
complete. The 1830 census showed other daughters who either died young or moved away. Joseph R.
Prevatt served as a Private, in Captain Mizell's Company, 2nd Regt. East Florida Mounted Volunteers
during the war with the Seminole Indians. He served for six months in 1837. He and his wife died
between 1850 and 1860. Their burial place is unknown, but believed to be in Columbia County, Florida
where they lived.
