* James Prevatt served in the Confederate Army as a Corporal in Company F, 8th Florida Infantry. He enlisted on 17 May 1862 and died in service 5 September 1863 as a prisoner of war at Ft. Delaware, Delaware. He was capture at the Battle of Gettysburg. He served with his brother in law Elias Williams who returned after the war and informed the family of his death.
* After the death of James Prevatt, his widow Sarah Williams Prevatt remarried to John CREWS, III in 1866 in Columbia Co., Florida. From this marriage their were the following children: James Henry Crews, Joseph Milton Crews, John Crews IV, Catherine Crews, Llewellyn Crews, Mary "Mamie' Crews.
* The daughter Elizabeth Prevatt was the oldest surviving child. While never married she had several children that carried the Prevatt name. At her advance age she became the matriach of the Prevatt Family and is well remembered.
