* Charles Arter Cagle was married two times and had 19 children. Charles and families went to Idaho and were on the 1878 census. After the May 31 1880 census they started back to Newton County, Arkansas, they were in Kansas when some of the family members became ill with typhoid fever and died. Charles' wife Lydia had just had there 8th child two weeks before she died, Charles cut off Lydia's hair and sold it to a man who made buggy whips out of it, in exchange the man paid for the funeral. Charles also lost his small son Burton and his sister Nancy Cagle Standridge, and a nephew General Alexander Standridge. Charles was a Farmer, Wagon Train Driver, and a Baptist Minister. Charles and Mary's marriage date and dates of birthdates of children are from Pension records, and dates of deaths are from headstones and family members.
