* John Pendleton and Lucy Ann Williams adopted her nephew, George Morton Williams when he was three years old and raised him.
* John Strother Pendleton was called "the lone star" when in congress; was a brillant orator and very handsome with blue eyes and light hair. Practiced law in Culpeper and was the Charge d'affairs to Chile 1841-1844, member of congress 1845 to 1849, Charge d'affairs to the Argentine Confederation 1851-1854, and more. He was the only "Whig" member of congress at that time. Was known to have along with his handsomeness, a very profane and lovable nature.
* The natural parents of George Morton Williams were: Phillip Williams and Mildred Catlett.
* Mildred died when George Morton was three years old, thus he was adopted by his aunt & uncle.
