Mr. McRae, a retired gin owner, was killed instantly Friday morning in a car-truck collision near Tatum. A former resident of Panola county, he had lived at Tatum six years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife; two sons, O.C. McRae of Amarillo and M.L. McRae of Los Angeles; two daughters, Mrs. J.W. Murphy of Galveston and Mrs. Stella Weaver of Dallas; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Joe Bailey Harris, Curtis Smith, Vernon Nicely, Lindsey Downs, R.A. Shaw, Douglas Whitaker, H.D. Senesac, and Elbert Kuykendall.
* A. C. McRae first resided in Brooks, TX, from there he moved to Beckville, Panola Co., TX in about 1917. From Beckvillle he moves to Tatum, Rusk Co. where he is in the 1920 and 1930 census. Sometime after that he moves to Union, Lubbock, TX not far from Slaton, Lubbock Co., TX. It was here at Union that Monnie McRae met Eloise Peterson. Arthur owned a local store in the town. In 1933?? Arthur moves to Fairplay, TX where he runs a Cotton Gin. And lastly he moves back to Tatum in 1953.

Final rites were held Wednesday for one of East Texas' well known citizens, Mrs. A. C. McRae of the Fairplay community. The services took place in the Calvary Baptist Church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. A. K. Kirkland.
Internment was in the Waldrop cemetery, directed by the A. Crim Funeral Home.
Mrs. McRae was a daughter of a well known Hill county family, the late Mr. and Mrs. John Johnson of Hubbard.
Her husband, born in Smith county but long-time prominent citizen of Fairplay, took a leading part in the rural electrification of this section and still serves with the Rusk County Electric Cooperative, Inc., as its Secretary-Treasurer.
A devoted wife and mother, Mrs. McRae is survived by her husband, A. C. McRae; two sons, M. L. McRae of Los Angeles and O. C. McRae of Brownsville; two daughters, Mrs. C. T. Weaver of Eastland and Mrs. J. W. Murphy, Galveston; one sister, Mrs. Eula Crawford, Henderson; and five grandchildren.
