Asa was one of the earliest settlers of the township and
was a J. P. His married his first wife Hester Cothren on 11 Feb 1818 in
Union County MM South Carolina. They had 2 daughters who are on another
chart. She died in 1821. His 2nd marriage to Susannah Penny, 25 October
1821, caused him to be disowned by his Quaker membership as Susannah was
not a Quaker. Asa was a farmer. Sources: Family
