Documentation:
   * The James Davis Jr. family Bible lists the death and ages of several of his aunts. These entries are transcribed as: Bethena Eason died March 1852 Aged 64 years 9 months Mary Salmons died October 11 1854 aged 75 year [faded] months Anna Eason died Sept 8th 1837 Aged 46 years & 5 months Elenor Dearing died [faded]
   * Rebecca Dearing died [faded, 09 May] 1858 aged 72 years & four months Mary Salmon's birth and death are recorded in the "History of Henry Co., VA" by Judith P. Hill.
   * Jane Davis Covington's birth is listed as 1790 in the James Davis Bible, but family letters and her deposition indicate that it was probably 1781. Rebecca Dearing's dates are collected by Peter Schlup from Rev. War Pensions and tombstones.
   * James Davis Sr. and his wife left tombstones with their birth and death dates. These are corroborated by the James Davis Jr. Bible which adds that James Sr. was born in Augusta Co., Virginia. James Davis Sr. provided a deposition for the Rev. War Application of Joseph Banner which states the month and year of his marriage to Margaret Dunlap.
   * The Dunlap surname is established by family tradition and was quoted in a biography of a descendant in the early 1900s. There is no clear written record of her family's name or her parentage. James Davis Sr. left a lenghty and detailed will identifying his children.
   * William Davis "Buck" is said to have had a tombstone giving his birth and death at the James Davis Sr. graveyard on Snow Creek. By 2004, the stone was no longer standing. There are no other known Bible sources. Buck did not marry, but adopted his sister Margaret's natural born child Minerva; it has been said that Minerva was his own child, but this is not known.
   * Margaret Davis had a natural born child named Minerva before her marriage to Winston Carter.
   * Other family historians have added other children found in the burial ground of the James Davis Sr. graveyard namely Martin, W.A. and M.A.. Upon examination of the stones and the dates, I did not find a Martin Davis stone and WA and MA appear to be a couple buried next to each other and may not be of the Davis family at all.
