  (Notes:
  (1) There is a serious conflict with (2 Zebulon) on pg. 177 and (4 Zebulon) on pg. 178. Both state that they are the child of James and Sally (Willey) Gilman, with birthdays 32-years apart. His parentage is obviously wrongly listed here. His parents were James and Hannah (Leavitt) Gilman. Portions of this paragraph are unreliable. As near as can be determined, Capt. Zebulon Gilman appears to be the Zebulon listed as the head of household on this Family Group Sheet. Zebulon (James, James, Moses, Edward, Robert, Edward (5th).
  (2) There are multiple Zebulon Gilman’s in Maine and elsewhere. There are also multiple Gilman cemeteries in Maine. Zebulon is very problematic. There are multiple Zebulon’s in the chain and the records are not very clear.
  (3) Multiple descendents of Zebulon (s/o Zebulon, James, James, Moses) appear in the records, after about 1820, in the Dover, New Durham, NH area, also named Zebulon. (Child #3?)
  (4) There are three generations of Zebulon’s; Zeb [1], s/o James [2]; Zeb [2] s/o Zeb [1] and Zeb [3] s/o Zeb [2]. It’s likely that Zeb [1] stayed in Newfields and Zeb [2] and Zeb [3] are the ones that appear in the Shapleigh census records.
  (5) Zebulon’s brother, Byley, b: 1725; (5) (1498)
  (6) Zebulon [1] signed the Association Test in 1776, which means that he was at least 21-years old.
  (7) Census records (7, 8, 9, 10,11) are unclear as to which Zebulon these apply to.
  (8) Zebulon Gilman Jr, s/o Zebulon and Mary (Marsh) Gilman b: 1796; m: Silence Powers, 11/April/1811 (3)
  (9) It’s unclear which Zebulon was living in Shapleigh, Maine in 1790. The census shows 2-males “16 or over”, 2-males under 16 and 2-females.
  (10) Zebulon (Zebulon, James, James, Moses): Death listed as Oct. 13, 1792) (6; #985)
  (11) Mary and Nathaniel were twins. (5a) 1668, 1669. Mary (Marsh) Gilman, d: 13/Mar/1838 (12a)
  (12) Elizabeth Lyford: (1m) - The claim that she was married to James [2], s/o James [1] is specifically contradicted in source #5; page 191, #1428.
