* 1880 St. Landry Parish, LA, census roll 470, page 384, shows Thomas J. Seily, age 21, living with his brother John's family in the 6th Ward. About 20 houses away was living his future wife, Margaret Parnell and her family. His occupation was working at a sawmill, probably the same sawmill as Margaret's brother, Daniel.

The many friends here of Mr. Tom Seiley of Caney Creek, were pained to learn of his death, which occured at his home on February 3, 1921. Mr. Seiley was a member of the Beaver Creek Baptist Church and lived a Christian life.

General Notes: Wife - Margaret J. PARNELL
* Known as "Sis" to family and friends. Beulah Seiley states that the family name is "Jordan" in her memoirs written in 1976. But census records show that her mother, Frances, was married first to Allen Jordan and then to James Parnell.
* Birth place assumed from the 1860 census that shows her parents, James and Frances Parnell living in Monticello Township, Lawrence County, Mississippi, in 1860.
* 1870 Claiborne Parish, LA, census, roll 5510, page 246B, shows Margarett Parnell, age 9, born in Mississippi, living with her mother and siblings; Daniel and Caldonia; near Lisbon, LA. Her mother's given name is not show and her half-brother, Samuel Jordan, is shown as "S. A. Jordan Parnell".
* 1880 St. Landry Parish, LA, Census roll 470, p383, shows Margaret, age 20, born in Louisiana, living in 6th Ward with her mother; Frances, age 50; sister Caldonia, age 14; and brother Daniel, age 17.
