Documentation: Primary sources are birth and death certificates, World
War II military records, family bibles, personal histories and
obituaries. Myrl was born in Tulsa Co, OK and shortly after, his family
moved to Hardesty, OK. They lived there until at age 4, he with his
father and brother moved to California. He lived there until age 14, then
moved to Oletha, KS and worked on a dairy and then at a grocery store. He
signed up for the draft and was later inducted into the Marines at
Miramar Naval base in CA and sent to serve in the South Pacific. After
the War, he moved to Englewood, Clark Co, KS and lived with his mother,
step-dad (Marvin Brooks), and three half sisters. He met and married
Donna Rosenberry and they resided in Meade, Meade Co, KS until 1955, when
they moved to Hugoton, Stevens Co, KS where they lived the rest of their
lives. Myrl was a pipeline welder and inspector and his wife Donna
Rosenberry who grew up in Meade, Ks was a bookkeeper. They were married
for forty-eight years, had three children and five grandchildren. Their
son, Don passed away less than a year after his father. He moved around a
lot because of his occupation as a plant construction worker and heavy
equipment operator, but when the job was done, he always came back home
to his family in Hugoton, Stevens Co, KS.
