OBITUARY
WILBUR COLLINS PASSED AWAY SATURDAY MORNING
Well-Known Resident Taken After Long Illness. Funeral Services At
Wallace.
Mr. Wilbur Collins, a resident of Wallace County for the past 13 years,
died at his farm home early last Saturday morning. He had been in failing
health for over two years and little hope had been held for his recovery
for about two weeks.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 Monday afternoon at the Wallace school
auditorium with Rev. Harvadine, of Winona, in charge. Interment was made
in the Wallace Cemetery.
Surviving are, besides his wife, ten children; Lawrence, James, Chester,
Elmer, Bobby, Freddy, Doris and Irene, of the home; Mrs. Clyde Lock of
Wallace; and Mrs. Earl Hogan, of Kit Carson, Colo. Also seven grand-
daughters; his aged parents, of Brewster; one sister, Mrs. Harry Kear, of
Brewster; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Mr. Collins was born in Macon County, Missouri on November 26, 1886. at
an early age he moved with his parents to Thomas County, Kansas, where he
resided until moving to Wallace County in 1928. He was united in marriage
to Miss Ruth Waldmeier, in January, 1910. To this union eleven children,
six boys and five girls were born. One daughter preceded him in death,
losing her life in a truck accident in June, 1940.
Mr. Collins had a wide host of friends. Although suffering an incurable
heart ailment for over two years, he was cheerful and uncomplaining. He
was devoted to his large family and was a kind husband. He was a good
neighbor and a friend to all who knew him.
