Comment--The 1870 census record seems to indicate that there was a 32
year old female named "Spanio". I enlarged and studied the image and I
think it says "Sfrania" or "Sfronia". No one by this name is living with
the family in 1850 or 1860. It's possible that she was Gideon's first
wife.
