* Henry Y. Utley, Jr. is first noted in the 1850 Federal Census for Burke Co., Ga. He is listed with the family of his brother William Utley and Susan Milton Utley, his wife. He is recorded as being 18 years of age.
* In May of 1854, recorded in the Burke Co. Courthouse Minutes, Susan Utley, widow, and Henry Utley, are named administrators for the Estate of William Utley.
* In the 1860 Federal Census for Burke Co., Ga., we find Henry Utley, his wife Cornelia Utley, and their children. Dist. 66, Gordons, Dwelling/Visitation 415, dtd July 5, 1860.
* Found in ROSTER OF CONFEDERATE SOLDIERS OF GEORGIA 1861-1865, published by Longino & Porter, 1955-58, is the following: Henry Utley, enlisted on May 12, 1862, Burke Co., Ga., Co. D, 48th Regiment, Infantry, AONV, CSA. Henry Utley was wounded at the Battle of Gettysburg, Pa., on July 2, 1863; he later died of his wounds. No date give.
* In letters written by Wm. Oliver Milton, nephew to Henry Utley, to his legal guardian, Isaac I. Heath, we find the following: "I suppose you have heard before this time of the death of Uncle Henry Utley. He was wounded during the battle of Gettysburg and was taken prisoner and afterwards died of his wounds." This letter was dated August 21, 1863, from Orange County Courthouse, Virginia. The original letter is in th possesion of Mr. Wm.H. Phillips of Durham, N.C., the great grandson of Wm. O. Milton.
* The 1870 Federal Census for Burke Co., Ga., indicates that Cornelia Utley is now Head of Household and living with her children.
* The Marriage Records of Burke Co., Ga., indicate that Cornelia Utley married Henry Heath on Oct. 3, 1871, book 3, page 174.
