Entered Into Eternal Rest Friday, Aug. 17, 1973
Mrs. Luna Gandy, 84, of 717 New York Ave., Lynn Haven, died Friday night in Panama City, Fla. Hospital after a brief illness. She had been a resident of Bay County since 1966 coming here from Thomasville, Ga. Mrs. Gandy was a member of the Lynn Haven First Baptist Church. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Easum Wilson, Valdosta, Ga., Mrs. Mildred Croley, Thomasville, Ga., Mrs. Agnes Shattler, Panama City; three sons, Melvin Gandy, Panama City, O.J. Gandy, Lynn Haven, Gordon Gandy, Calif.; one sister, Mrs. Sallie Rosier, Tampa, Fla.; 38 grandchildren, 96 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. -- Southerland Funeral Home, 1123 Harrison Ave.

Services for Mary Easum Gandy Wilson, 84, of Okeechobee, Fla., are to be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, 1990, at Salem Baptist Church, Kenyon R. Gandy and the Rev. Thilmon Vonier are to officiate, and interment will be in the church cemetery. Mrs. Wilson died Jan. 18, 1990, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany. A homemaker, she was born July 26, 1905, a daughter of Jesse and Luna Willis Gandy. She was a member of Patten Methodist CHurch. Survivors include sons, Aubrey and Calvin Wilson, Thomasville, Eugene Wilson, West Palm Beach, Fla., Daughters, Alice Phinazee, Ozark, Ala., Polly Woodham and Ludie Strickland, Lake Worth, Fla., Jewel Lyon, Ty Ty, Hazel Lacey, St. Petersburg, Sybil Nobles, Okeechobee, and Jan Lewis, Albany; brother, Gordon Gandy, Panama City, Fla., sisters, Mildred Croley, Whigham, and Agnes Shetler, Panama City; 38 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.   John worked at various jobs while growing up including chauffeur work and two years with the Ringling Brothers Circus as an elephant handler. He was a trucker in the Chicago area during his early adult life. John married Elsie Liljehorn, however the marriage was unsuccessful. they had one son, William John. John came south in the thirties and was driving a bus for Georgia Coach Lines when he met Agnes who was working as a waitress in Thomasville, Ga. After their marriage they lived in Georgia, Tampa, St. Petersburg, and Chicago before moving to Orlando in 1947. John drove a semi truck for Allied and Mayflower. In 1949 their house burned and they moved to Miami for about nine months. They had returned to Orlando and rebuilt their home. In 1950 he was involved in a collision in Missippi when a car skidded out of control and struck his truck. He was not expected to recover after receiving burns on 90% of his body. He did recover and worked as a warehouse foreman for Joiner May!
flower for 8 years. In 1959 he bought a truck and leased to Mercury Motor Express for several years hauling freight prior to his retirement. He was a large man who was very strong prior to his accident. John was well known for his love of humor and his sternness. However he was sensitive and sincere.
  Agnes grew up on a farm between Pavo and Coolidge, Ga. She worked as a waitress and homemaker thorough most of their marriage. For several years she worked in the warehouse with John as a clerk. She was well known for her cooking ability and homemaking skills. The births of their children were spread over 22 years. Their Orlando residence were located on Chickasaw Trail, 538 S. Eola, and 503 Mayfair Circle.
  They attended church at Downey Memorial, Union Park; First Baptist Church, Union Park; and Conway Baptist Church, Orlando.
  John died from a heart attack he suffered while unloading a load of trash at the county dump.
  Agnes moved to Thomasville, Ga. and Titusville Fl. after John's death. She then moved to Panama City, Fl in 1972. She was briefly married to Chris Booten, Joe, and George Jones.
