Notes:
* William Jethro Fowler (who was called "Billy") also raised Sarah Margaret Vaughan Hart's two children, Tom Hart and Lela Hart, who were both under the age of 5 when William and Maggie married.
* Oscar Fowler died in a hay baling accident, said to have been run down by a team of runaway horses.
* John Fowler was said to have died from an accidental shooting in Texas. His widow, Eunice Bradbury Fowler, married the widower of John's sister, Mattie Fowler Gay.
* Eunice and Eason moved to Phil Campbell, Franklin Co., AL, but remained close with the Fowler family.
* Cecil Mary Fowler and her husband died from typhoid fever within days of each other, leaving several orphans who were raised by family members.
* Warner J. Fowler was crippled, supposedly from a stroke at an early age.
* The Fowler boys were fascinated by cars and Warner had one built to accommodate his handicap. Lee Fowler was said to have owned an automobile dealership in Birmingham.
* William Jethro Fowler was the victim of some kind of dementia (probably what we would today call Alzheimer's) the last three years of his life. His step-son, Tom Hart, was appointed his guardian in 1916 and cared for both William and Maggie (who was blind by this time) until William's death in 1919.
* William became a very wealthy man after he moved to Alabama with stores, a saw mill, a cotton gin, and extensive land holdings. To quote his granddaughter, Wilmer Fowler Hancock," My granddaddy's family rode mules to Alabama and bought all the land between the Little Tallapoosie and the Big Tallapoosie rivers." When confronted with this story, living relatives still in Cleburne nod their heads and say, "pert' near ... pert' near ..."
* William, both his wives, most of his children, his mother, and all but one of his siblings are buried at Ranburne Baptist Church cemetery in Cleburne County.
